A Winter Wedding at Peckforton Castle
Steph and Dearg married at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire, in December and it was my incredible pleasure to be there with them. I loved being their Peckforton Castle Wedding Videographer. It was a true honour to create a film of their special day that they will cherish.
There is something so magical about a castle wedding in the wintertime. Everyone cosied up inside the ancient walls. The candlelight flickering. The tall Christmas tree reminding everyone there that it definitely was the season to be merry; and merry this bunch were indeed!
Watch the 3 minute highlight film to see how gorgeous a Christmas wedding can be at Peckforton Castle.
In the heart of beautiful Cheshire stands imposing Peckforton Castle. Surrounded by woodland it is just outside the small town of Tarporley where I went to high school! I’ve known this area my whole life and have explored the surrounding Delamere Forest well.
Our bride, Steph, spent the morning getting ready with her little daughter, bridesmaids (one of which was her very elegant grandmother) and mum and dad. Peckforton Castle provided a beautiful breakfast for them to enjoy. The winter sun was warm and low in the sky, just ideal for a winter wedding. Their room had plenty of natural sunlight flowing in – one of my favourite things as a wedding videographer! Steph surprised her family and bridesmaids with her dress reveal which was a particularly emotional moment as her little girl shouted out “Mummy you’re a princess!”. She certainly was!
The wedding ceremony was held in the Great Hall; a perfect place to be married. Candles lined the aisle, the Christmas tree twinkled with fairy lights, Steph had chosen beautiful candelabras intertwined with gorgeous foliage and winter blooms which matched the decadence and warm colours of this wonderful space.
One of my signature shots is of the bride walking down the aisle to meet her husband. I find it a really beautiful moment; certainly symbolic as she walks towards a new chapter in their relationship. It’s the moment she’s been waiting for since she became a bride-to-be. Definitely up there as one of my favourite moments of the day! Steph absolutely shined as she made the walk down the aisle toward Dearg, despite her nerves; and he of course beamed back at her!
When I attend a wedding it’s the emotions and relationships between people that stand out most. They truly hold the beauty and memories of the day. It’s this I aim to capture most in my films. Audio is exceptionally important to me as it is key to telling the story of the day. I think this shows in Steph and Dearg’s film.
Steph and Dearg danced around the tables and threw napkins and caution to the wind as they truly celebrated their happiest of days to the music from the singing waiter. It wasn’t long before the party moved back into the Great Hall, now transformed into a ballroom for the evening entertainment. A fantastic band played all their favourite songs and people danced without a care until the end of the night.
Peckforton Castle is a magical venue for a winter wedding, one of our favourites. Thank you so much for having us Steph and Dearg, it was a pleasure to share your day. We loved capturing these memories for you!
