So much has changed since I made my first wedding video over one year ago!
Luke and Hela and I have been friends since we were in our late teens. I even shared a house with Luke enjoying lazy days beside the sea in Brighton for a while and was so chuffed for them when Luke finally popped the question to Hela! Seeing good people find true love is one of the sweetest things in life I think, and when you’ve grown up with them it makes sharing in that joy all the sweeter and more meaningful.
We all eagerly anticipated the big day, excited for our trip to a Shropshire wedding! I got a new suit for the occasion and we made a weekend of it by booking a hotel the night before as well as a room at the gorgeous exclusive use Mill Barns for after the celebrations were over. A couple of days before the wedding Luke asked if I wouldn’t mind trying to film the ceremony for them. They had booked a brilliant photographer, but decided to for-go the videographer. I think Luke expected me to plop a camera at the side of the action and leave it rolling, but me being me and excited by any opportunity to make a film, I had a decent crack at a proper wedding film instead!
I only used a very small, simple handheld camera and my drone; no tripod, no lights, no kit at all! But the result is a film that, hopefully, they will still love to watch as the years tick by.
Working alongside their photographer was a great experience, he was really patient with me! Also their fab toastmaster who organised everyone which allowed me to grab such stunning guest drone footage!
A fond memory for me for many reasons. Not only because my two lovely friends got wed, but also because I realised how much I love filming weddings. I am so grateful to both Luke and Hela for supporting me in my early days and for setting me off on my wedding videography adventure.
